About Sherri

 Sherri is our Nursery Supervisor and is loving her new position!  She came to Northwest Barrie United Church in 1997 when her family made the big move from Scarborough to Barrie.  She’s grown up in the United Church family, attending Zion Wexford in Scarborough and then joining NWBUC.  Being new to the city, NWBUC offered the sense of community and friendship her family was looking for.  Throughout her years attending NWBUC, she has been on the Outreach & Community Life Committees, attended many functions, and volunteered in both the Nursery and Sunday School – meeting amazing people all along the way.

 She comes from a very tight knit family with two siblings, both younger than her and with large age gaps in between them all.  Having her two younger siblings made her the perfect “in-house” babysitter and probably led to her passion for educating and caring for children. 

 Sherri earned her diploma in Office Administration – Medical in 2000 at Georgian College and obtained a position working in a rehabilitation office.  She later returned to Georgian to complete courses in Early Childhood Education while working her dream job of being a care provider in a daycare centre.  She loved taking care of the youngest attendants of the daycare centre.

 Her son is now a teenager and is still the centre of her universe.  They love to watch movies, go for hikes and swim down at Barrie’s beautiful waterfront.  Her parents instilled in her a love for the outdoors, taking her camping for the first time when she was just 8 months old.  She has since passed this down to her son as well and they can often be found enjoying their camping weekends on summer vacation on beautiful Bass Lake, campfires have always been their favourite!  She also enjoys being an inside cat with her real cat, Lucie, lol.
